## About the work

### Do you work on private homes?

Craft Wales works with schools, councils, parks and businesses. For work at a private home, our sister company RCT Property Services (https://craft-wales.co.uk/rct-property-services) handles it.

### How long does installation take?

Some of our smaller items are in stock, so that can be a matter of days. Larger items like a park area or outdoor classroom usually take around a week to manufacture and a week to install on site. Lead times from order to installation vary with the time of year, so ask us when you enquire.

### Do you make everything yourselves?

Yes. Everything is designed, made and installed by our own team, from our factory in Ystrad Mynach. We do not subcontract the making or the fitting.

### Can you make something that is not on your website?

Yes. Most of what we build is bespoke. Tell us the idea and the space and we will come and look at it.

### Do you work in Welsh?

Yes. We carve and router in Welsh and English, and we make a bilingual range of learning panels and shapes used in schools across Wales.

### What timber do you use?

Locally sourced oak and sweet chestnut, alongside Douglas fir, larch and spruce, from managed forests.

## About working on site

### Will you work while the school is open?

Yes, where it is safe to do so. We fence off the work area for the whole installation so nobody can get into it.

### Can you install during the school holidays?

Yes. Schools often prefer us to work when pupils are not in, so the holidays are usually our busiest time.

### How do you keep the site safe?

We fence off the work area for the whole installation, so nobody can get into it while we are there.

### Are your installers DBS checked?

DBS checks are in place.

### Do you provide risk assessments and method statements?

Yes, they are available on request.

### What insurance do you carry?

£5 million public liability insurance, with Chiswell Insurance.

## About cost and buying

### How much does it cost?

It depends on the piece and the site, which is why we come out and measure up before quoting. Ask us for a quote (https://craft-wales.co.uk/contact)

### Is the site visit free?

Yes. We come out, measure up and talk it through at no cost.

### Can you give us a drawing and quote for a funding application?

Yes. Most clubs and community groups need both before a funder will consider an application, so ask us at the start.

### How far do you travel?

We cover the whole of Wales and assess each job individually, so tell us where the site is and we will tell you straight.

### Are you on any frameworks, and do you tender?

We are not currently on any frameworks.

## About afterwards

### Do you offer maintenance?

Yes. On a yearly maintenance plan we come back, inspect the timber, make good any minor damage and re-spray it. In year five we add an anti-fungal treatment.

### How do we look after it ourselves?

Everything apart from green oak is finished in an oil-based product, and we recommend re-coating each spring. That stops the timber cracking and splintering, keeps the water out and slows the algae that makes a surface slippery. Green oak is designed to withstand the elements, and its appearance will change over time.
