The Twyn School
Craft Wales Ltd were asked to construct two Outdoor Classrooms during the Summer of 2008. One classroom was to be located in our Early Years outdoor environment and the other in the Key Stage 2 playground, serving both KS1 and KS2 pupils.
The school had studied several businesses on the Internet and received plenty of offers through E-Mail advertisements, but was determined to find a Welsh based company that offered quality, durability and a structure that would enhance the school environment.
I was impressed by the portfolio provided by Craft Wales and the flexibility of design to cater for the schools needs. During the Summer I was fortunate to witness the stage by stage construction of each classroom. I was really impressed by the amount of work and effort involved in producing each of the structures. As the structures are open to the elements all year round, the robust nature of the materials used and quality of the timber should ensure that the structures will last for many years.
The craftsmanship involved has certainly impressed the staff, Governors and parents who have all commented on how wonderful the Outdoor classrooms look. They have been completed to a very high standard and with Craft Wales based locally, any maintenance can be organised quickly.
The classrooms are already in use, enhancing provision and learning opportunities for our younger children. They absolutely love the outdoor curriculum and the classrooms have become an ideal base for imaginative play.
Mr Paul Hogg and his co-workers were very professional in their approach to the work. Health and Safety was always adhered to and no inconvenience was caused in the process of construction. They were always friendly to parents, children and staff and worked tirelessly throughout the rain and damp conditions that plagued our Summer Holidays. Neighbours have also commented on how dedicated Craft Wales were in their work, and that the finished product was excellent value for money.
I would certainly recommend Craft Wales Ltd to any school who are looking to invest in their Outdoor environment. If it’s quality and durability they are after, then I can’t see beyond Craft Wales for this type of product.
Mr Hogg is very creative with ideas and we will be hoping to develop further projects over the next few years.
We are more than willing to welcome schools to visit our Outdoor environment to view the structure. I would also like to thank Mr Hogg for ‘The Storytellers Chair’ that was donated to the Early Years Unit. A very popular and aesthetically beautiful item of furniture that enhances our outdoor area.
