[ What we build ]
Timber play equipment made in our own factory and installed by our own team, including wet pour safety surfacing, built for daily use in a Welsh playground rather than a catalogue photograph.
[ The range ]
Nothing on this page is a standard kit. Everything is drawn and built for the space it is going into, at whatever size and in whatever colours suit, so take these as examples of what we have made rather than a list to pick from. Built from a combination of timber and Play-Tec plastic, so they stand up to daily use outdoors.
An engine and carriages the children climb in and out of all break.
A ship in the playground, carved and named in Welsh or English.
A raised platform with a pitched shingle roof, steps up one side and a slide down the other.
Two or more towers linked by a raised bridge, with a slide, a climbing panel and a fireman's pole.
A timber frame strung with climbing nets and rope, for scrambling up and over.
A freestanding panel with hand and foot holds cut through it, and the school name routered into it.
A timber castle front with battlements and turrets, climbing holds across the face and a plank bridge slung between the towers.
Single pieces you can add to a space you already have, from stepping posts to a balance beam or a rope traverse.
Several pieces laid out together as a course, so a whole class moves through it at once.
Somewhere to disappear into, and the first thing they run to in the morning.
A low timber kitchen with stainless bowls set into the top, a hob and a washing machine door.
Shop fronts, post offices, height charts and nature panels, carved and painted to your design.
Built with a lid, so it is ready to use rather than full of rain.
A fire engine and its matching station bay, cut from painted panels for indoor use.
Trains, cars, tractors, boats, and whole areas as well as single pieces. The slide here runs down a turfed bank with a timber tower at the top. Everything is built to order, so these are examples rather than a catalogue.
[ Safety surfacing ]
We lay wet pour, the seamless rubber surfacing you see under climbing frames and trim trails. It arrives as rubber granules mixed with a binder, poured and trowelled on site, so it forms one continuous surface with no joins, mats or edges to lift.
How deep it goes is set by the equipment above it. The higher a child can climb, the more depth is needed underneath, which is what BS EN 1177 measures. We work that out as part of the design rather than leaving it to someone else afterwards.
It drains rather than puddling, it can be laid over existing tarmac or concrete, and it comes in colours, so markings, numbers and patterns can be set into the surface while it is being laid.
[ Safety ]
All our play equipment is built in accordance with BS EN 1176.
BS EN 1177 for safety surfacing. We lay wet pour as part of the installation, with safety surfacing quoted separately.
We are not qualified to carry out an official inspection, but can arrange one if needed as an optional extra in an aftercare package.
Five year workmanship guarantee
[ How they are built ]
Galvanised steel posts are concreted into the ground and the timber legs sit over them, so the timber never sits in wet ground.
Locally sourced oak and sweet chestnut, alongside Douglas fir, larch and spruce, from managed forests.
Everything apart from green oak is finished in an oil-based product, and we recommend re-coating each spring. Green oak is left to weather naturally.
Every structure is drawn by hand, to scale, before anything is cut.
[ Who we build them for ]

See leisure and tourism[ Aftercare ]
Everything we make, apart from items in green oak, is finished in an oil-based product, and we recommend re-coating each spring. That stops the timber cracking and splintering, keeps the water out and slows the algae that makes a surface slippery.
On a yearly maintenance plan we come back, inspect the timber, make good any minor damage and re-spray it. In year five we add an anti-fungal treatment.
Green oak is designed to withstand the elements, and its appearance will change over time.
