[ Carved to order ]

Carved with your name, badge or dedication

Most of our benches can be routered with a school name, a badge, a dedication or your own design, in Welsh, English or both. It is what turns a bench into a memorial, or a piece of playground furniture into something that belongs to the school.

We also make a Friendship Bench range in several sizes, weatherproof and fade resistant, with personalisation.

Square planter bench with a bed of soil in the middle and timber legs, its red sides carved in yellow with Looking to the Future and Edrych i'r Dyfodol, standing on paving slabs
Backless timber memorial bench with a carved dedication reading Jack Thomas 06.06.96 to 12.02.12 along the front, and a painted crest with a red banner reading Endeavour on the end, standing on tarmac in front of a brick wall

[ Memorial seating ]

Memorial benches, carved with your words

We make solid Oak memorial benches with carved dedications or a fitted plaque for schools, parks, clubs and community groups. Tell us the wording, and we will set it out before anything is cut.

[ How they are built ]

Built for Welsh weather

Posts that do not rot

Galvanised steel posts are concreted into the ground and the timber legs sit over them, so the timber never sits in wet ground.

The timber

Locally sourced oak and sweet chestnut, alongside Douglas fir, larch and spruce, from managed forests.

The finish

Everything apart from green oak is finished in an oil-based product, and we recommend re-coating each spring. Green oak is left to weather naturally.

Drawn before it is built

Every structure is drawn by hand, to scale, before anything is cut.

About RCT Property Services

[ Aftercare ]

We come back.

Everything we make, apart from items in green oak, is finished in an oil-based product, and we recommend re-coating each spring. That stops the timber cracking and splintering, keeps the water out and slows the algae that makes a surface slippery.

On a yearly maintenance plan we come back, inspect the timber, make good any minor damage and re-spray it. In year five we add an anti-fungal treatment.

Green oak is designed to withstand the elements, and its appearance will change over time.
